Colonel Olson talked about her book, Iraq and Back: Inside the War to Win the Peace, published by Naval Institute Press. She described her experiences while serving in post-war Iraq. Part of the first generation of female pilots serving with the U.S. Air Force, she was General Jay Garner’s executive officer at the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance in Iraq. As a mother and a pilot, she gave a first-hand account of women’s roles in the military, the human toll of war, and the reconstruction in Iraq. She responded to questions from members of the audience.

This was part of a panel of the Association of the U.S. Army annual meeting where authors presented their military-themed books. close
