Secretary Spellings moderated a panel discussion on the steps high schools and communities can take to help prevent future tragedy by making schools safer. Topics included the Columbine school shooting, communication with law enforcement, multi-hazard preparation, exterior and interior lockdowns, visitor control, student and parent involvement in planning, and conflict resolution education. After their presentations, the participants responded to audience members' questions. close
