First lady Laura Bush addressed the White House Conference on School Safety about the trauma of school violence and the need to assure young people that grownups are working to protect them. She said that school violence often cannot be explained

Secretary Spellings moderated a panel of school administrators, teachers and students on the short and long term needs of schools and communities following a traumatic event. Topics included reactions to traumatic events, crisis counseling, memorials, and reasons for teen anger. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions. close
