David Hyman talked about his book, Medicare Meets Mephistopheles, published by the Cato Institute. He said that Medicare may be the greatest trick the devil has ever played to corrupt the American republic. He argued that Medicare is a massive government program that will lead the United States into financial ruin. He alleged that Medicare encourages the seven deadly sins: pride, envy, anger, sloth, greed, gluttony and lust -- undermining the virtues of thrift and honesty in health care. He was joined in discussion by two Medicare experts. They responded to questions from members of the audience.
