Sidney Blumenthal talked about his book, How Bush Rules: Chronicles of a Radical Regime, published by Princeton University Press. The bulk of the book is a compilation of articles that Mr. Blumenthal, formerly a senior aide for President Clinton, originally authored for Slate.com and The Guardian British newspaper between 2003 and 2006. He said that President Bush is deliberately working to increase the power of the presidency. Mr. Blumenthal criticized President Bush for trying to avoid congressional oversight, relying on one-party rule, squelching internal debate, and granting his vice president an unusual amount of power and authority. After his presentation he responded to audience members' questions. close
