Co-authors Marlowe, Shapiro and Bain talked about their book, Darfur Diaries: Stories of Survival, published by Avalon Publishing Group. The independent filmmakers described traveling to the refugee camps in eastern Chad and in Darfur in October 2004. They sneaked across the border between Chad and Sudan and remained behind rebel lines. They interviewed refugees living in camps to produce their documentary film, Darfur Diaries: Message from Home, about stories of survival in Darfur. Then they wrote a book about their experiences filming the documentary. After their presentations, they responded to questions from members of the audience. close
