President Bush and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki spoke to reporters about their summit meeting in Jordan, the political future of Iraq, U.S. military operations in the country, and other issues affecting U.S.-Iraq relations. In response to questions from reporters, President Bush endorsed Prime Minister Al-Maliki’s leadership, and said that American forces would “stay in Iraq to get the job done, so long as the government wants us there.” close
