James Traub talked about his book The Best Intentions: Kofi Annan and the UN in the Era of American World Power, published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. He discussed Kofi Annan’s successes and failures as the seventh secretary-general of the United Nations, describing him as a sincere humanitarian and describing some of the conversations he had with Kofi Annan during the American invasion of Iraq. After his presentation Mr. Traub responded to audience members' questions. Topics included the recent resignation of United States Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton. close
