America and the Courts included a portion of Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s grand jury testimony. These audio recordings were made on March 5 and 24, 2004, by Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald. At the time, I. Lewis Libby Jr. was chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney. The recordings were released by the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., on February 7, 2007, after eight hours of his grand jury testimony were presented as evidence at Mr. Libby’s trial. Scooter Libby was charged with perjury, making false statements, and obstruction of justice in connection with the investigation of the disclosure that Ambassador Joseph Wilson’s wife, Valerie Plame Wilson, was a covert operative with the Central Intelligence Agency.
