Jeremy Schaap was a guest on the “Meet the Author” show to talk about his book, Triumph: The Untold Story of Jesse Owens and Hitler’s Olympics, published by Houghton Mifflin. Mr. Schaap used unprecedented access to the Owens family, previously unpublished interviews, and archival research to dispel some of the myths surrounding the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games as well as revealing new stories. He talked about the historical importance of Owens' victories in the Games which flew in the face of Hitler’s ideas of Aryan supremacy. During the program the author read from the book, talked with the host, and responded to questions from the studio audience in the Student Union Theatre on the North Campus of the State University of New York at Buffalo. close
