George Halvorson spoke on the topic, “Health Care Reform Now.” He presented a Kaiser Foundation plan intended to improve the quality of care and patient safety, while correcting inefficiencies in the health care market, using new tools, like the Internet, to improve organization and access to information. Topics included the 50 million Americans not covered by health insurance, inadequate management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, and ways to increase consumer use of medical information. After his presentation he responded to questions submitted by audience members. close
