On the twentieth anniversary of U.S. Supreme Court case McCleskey v. Kemp a panel of legal scholars discussed the legacy of the McCleskey decision and whether it ultimately created an impenetrable barrier to the use of statistics in the context of the death penalty. The symposium also addressed the social, historical and statistical connection between race and the death penalty and the problem of unconscious racism. Professor Jones moderated. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions. close
