Ron Soodalter talked about his book Hanging Captain Gordon: The Life and Trial of an American Slave Trader, published by Washington Square Press. The author argued that President Abraham Lincoln strengthened the nation’s anti-slave trading law and ended the notorious slave trading voyages of U.S. vessels by refusing to stop the federal execution of a slave trader. After his presentation Mr. Soodalter responded to audience members' questions.

“The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship Tenth Annual Symposium” was held by the Abraham Lincoln Institute of the Mid-Atlantic at the National Archives II in College Park, Maryland. close
