Mr. Wilson talked about his book, Lincoln’s Sword: The Presidency and the Power of Words, published by Knopf. He described Lincoln’s development as a writer from his earliest work to his final speeches. Wilson argued that Lincoln was one of the best writers to serve as president and used his speeches and proclamations to help win the war and achieve his goals. After his presentation the author responded to audience members' questions.

This book won the 2007 Lincoln Prize. Wilson’s book, Honor’s Voice: The Transformation of Abraham Lincoln, was awarded the Lincoln Prize in 1999.

“The Latest in Lincoln Scholarship Tenth Annual Symposium” was held by the Abraham Lincoln Institute of the Mid-Atlantic at the National Archives II in College Park, Maryland. close
