Mr. Golob talks about publishing the American Presidents series, short biographies of all 43 American presidents, with a special emphasis on each man’s time in office. To date, Times Books, an imprint of Henry Holt and Company, has published 24 biographies, and they expect to complete the series in 2010. The idea for the series came from Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., who was the general editor of the series until his death February 28, 2007. A week before his death, BookTV interviewed three of the biographers who have contributed to the series, as well as Paul Golob, the editorial director of Times Books.
The interview with John Patrick Diggins was recorded February 23, 2007, in Washington, DC and is a part of program 196775-1. close
