Ali Allawi talked about his book The Occupation of Iraq: Winning the War, Losing the Peace, published by Yale University Press. He assessed the reasons for the invasion of Iraq and detailed the mistakes he says were made during the occupation. He also proposed solutions to the ongoing problems there. The guest interviewer was Roland Flamini.

Ali Allawi is a senior adviser to the prime minister of Iraq. Since the Coalition’s invasion of Iraq, he served as his country’s first postwar civilian minister of defense for the interim Iraqi government and as minister of finance for the transitional government. He was a leader of the opposition movement in exile during the rule of Saddam Hussein.

Roland Flamini was the chief international correspondent at United Press International from 2000 to 2006. From 1968 to 1994, he was a foreign correspondent and World Section editor for Time magazine.
