Treasury and State Department officials talked with reporters about the upcoming launch of the International Compact with Iraq, an initiative co-chaired by the United Nations and Iraq to help Iraq build a stable and prosperous nation and a self-sustaining economy. They also talked about the Expanded Ministerial Conference of the Neighbors of Iraq which will focus on politics. Both meetings will take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt on May 3 and May 4 respectively. Topics included building greater dialogue between Iraq and its neighbors, the role of the international community, stopping violence in Iraq, and the development of an investor-friendly regime in Iraq. The participants responded to reporters' questions. close
