Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr., delivered the keynote address at the dedication ceremony of the third building of the Syracuse University S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Chief Justice Roberts talked about freedom of speech, judicial independence, and the manner in which independent judges ensured individual rights to speech and expression. He reminded students to make sure they exercised their rights, but also realized that the greatest threat to their freedom of speech could be through irresponsibly exercising those rights. close
