A panel discussed the book What Was Asked of Us: An Oral History of the Iraq War by the Soldiers Who Fought It. Since the Iraq war began in 2003, roughly one million young Americans have rotated through the country’s insurgent-infested hot spots. And though media reports about the war are constant, accounts of what it is like to be fighting in Iraq are usually sketchy. Trish Wood talked about what led her to write the book and what she hoped to accomplish with it. Paul Rodriquez spoke about his experience as a medic in Iraq. Chris Toland talked about surviving a roadside bombing. Following the discussion panelists answered questions from members of the audience. close
