Moderated by Mr. Perito, members of the Provincial Reconstruction Teams (PRTs) talked about the effectiveness of the program. They were embedded with Brigade Combat Teams in Iraq that were part of the “surge” of U.S. forces in Baghdad, Anbar and Erbil, and talked about their experiences and made recommendations for the future. They said that civilian contractors are replacing the military reservists as the Brigade Combat Teams begin to return to the U.S. After their presentations the panelists responded to audience members' questions.

Provincial Reconstruction Teams are small military units that assist local authorities in Iraq and Afghanistan to improve security, governance, and the economy to deliver essential services. There are now 25 PRTs in each country, most led by the U.S. and some by allies. close
