Secretary Henry Paulson delivered the keynote address on the topic of the U.S. economic outlook. He said that the Bush administration would soon release a Blueprint for Regulatory Reform proposing a financial regulatory framework believed to more effectively promote orderly markets and foster financial sector innovation and competitiveness. Topics included market stress caused by the subprime mortgage crisis, limiting the impact of the housing downturn, and the availability of bank credit. After his speech he responded to audience members' questions.

The keynote address was part of the Second Annual Capital Markets Summit, “Strengthening U.S. Capital Markets for All Americans,” which was held in the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Hall of Flags. close
