Appearing by remote access from New York City, Fareen Zakaria talked about his book The Post-American World, published by W.W. Norton. Zakaria argues that we are living in a “post-American” age. Even though America is a “superpower,” other parts of the world are quickly outpacing the United States, not only in size but also in industry, the financial world and culture. He believes that the United States must adopt a new tone while it determines its role in the changing global landscape. He responded to telephone calls and electronic mail.

Zakaria, who is also the international editor for Newsweek, had the cover story in the May 12, 2008, issue of the magazine on the subject. close
