President Bush made remarks in honor Asian/Pacific Islander Heritage Month.

He praised their many contributions to American culture and business. The President talked about ways that the U.S. is working with other Asian Pacific

nations to expand prosperity and freedom. He recognized Ben Kuroki, a Japanese-American who volunteered for the Army two days after Pearl Harbor, and recipient of the U.S. Army Distinguished Service Medal in 2005. Veterans from

the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a group of volunteers from U.S. Japanese internment camps, who helped liberate the Dachau concentration camp were also recognized. close
