A cloture vote is expected today in the Senate on the Consumer-First Energy Act of 2008 -- to roll back $17 billion in tax break to oil companies and to levy a windfall profits tax on the five largest oil & gas companies. Money raised would be funneled into renewable energy projects. The bill also aims to outlaw oil price manipulation by OPEC and allows OPEC to be prosecuted under U.S. antitrust laws.
