In light of the start of the Group of Eight Summit (G-8), Gerald LeMelle talked about previous commitments made by the international community to select African countries. At the 2005 G-8 Summit, leaders pledged $22 billion to Africa before 2010, but reportedly only 14 percent of the aid had been delivered. Mr. LeMelle also talked about whether the commitments can be met and, if not, what it means for Africa, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. close
