Richard Engel talked about his book War Journal: My Five Years in Iraq by Simon and Schuster. He said that Iraq has had five different wars since the U.S. invasion: a war of shock and awe when the invasion initially occurred; nation building immediately after the fall of the government of Saddam Hussein; insurgency; full civil war; and the status quo with the troop buildup. He said that each war necessitated different policies by the Iraqi and U.S. government. He also talked about the effect in Iraq of the policies of different commanders. He answered questions from the audience.
