Debate was held in the British House of Commons on the Terrorist Suspect Detention Bill, which would increase to 42 days the time authorities are allowed to hold terrorism suspects without charges. There were statements from members of the Labour, Conservative and Liberal Democrat parties. This event include statements and debate by British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith and the Shadow Home Secretary David Davies.

Later, the House of Commons voted in favor of the bill, 315-306. More than 30 Labour members voted against the measure. close
