Mark Rey talked about the federal response to recent wildfires, the upcoming wildfire season, federal funding and resources to fight wildfires, and responded to telephone calls and electronic mail. He also talked about the impact of the passage of the House FLAME Act (HR5541), which provides extra funding for catastrophic emergency wildland fire suppression and development of a management strategy. Undersecretary Rey is in charge of the U.S. Forestry Service that employs approximately 14,000 federal firefighters to fight wildfires on National Forest land.
