Side Effects recounts the rise of Paxil, the GlaxoSmithKline antidepressant, and the subsequent lawsuit against the manufacturer for consumer fraud by the New York State Attorney General’s office in 2004. Ms. Bass profiles several sources that contend that the manufacturer suppressed information about the link between the drug and suicidal thoughts.
