The Senate received the nomination of Alan Greenspan, of New York, to be Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve Board for a term of four years. The Senate began consideration of S. 596, to provide that federal facilities meet federal and state environmental laws and requirements. The Senate agreed to the conference report on H.R. 972, to make permanent the legislative reinstatement of the power of Indian tribes to exercise criminal jurisdiction over Indians. close
