The committee heard testimony from former government employees supporting U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Clarence Thomas in his reopened Supreme Court confirmation hearings. The former employees of the Department of Education and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, who worked with both Judge Thomas and University of Oklahoma Law Professor Anita Hill during their tenures at the agencies, testified they observed no evidence upholding Prof. Hill’s claims that Judge Thomas sexually harassed her in the workplace. Ms. Talkin testified she worked very closely with Judge Thomas during his tenure at the EEOC, and she never perceived any hint of impropriety, about which women have a “sixth sense.” She characterized Judge Thomas as being of the greatest conscientiousness concerning gender issues. close
