President George H.W. Bush and Vice President Dan Quayle headed the list of speakers at a fundraising event in Houston, Texas, for the 1992 Bush-Quayle presidential campaign. Approximately 1,000 Texas Republicans paid $1,000 each to attend the dinner event being held in the convention facilities of the Astrodome, where the 1992 Republican convention was held. The President and Vice President lauded Texas, America, and Republican values in their speeches before the Republican attendees. Vice President Quayle stressed the importance of values and the American family in American society. President Bush discussed the principles of the Republican party, and called for an unemployment benefits bill that would not penalize the employed working class in America. Following the President’s remarks, further entertainment was provided for the audience. close
