President Menem addressed a joint meeting of Congress on political and economic issues of Argentina, and relations with the United States. During his visit to the United States, President Menem signed an investment protection treaty with the U.S. and lauded the current state of U.S.-Argentine relations. He stated in his address to Congress that Argentina was now committed to a free market economy and hoped to enter the global economy, having achieved political and economic stability. President Menem’s remarks were translated by an interpreter following each of his remarks. close
