The House Administration committee met to discuss proposed legislation that would create a task force to look into the alleged involvement of the 1980 Reagan presidential campaign in negotiations to delay the release of American hostages in Iran until after the November election. The proposed task force would be made up of members of the House Foreign Affairs committee. Members of the committee argued over whether there was sufficient evidence to justify the expense of a task force on the matter, and whether the conclusions determined by such a task force, favorable or unfavorable to the historical image of the Reagan administration, would again justify the expense of a House investigation. close
