The legislation would create a task force to look into allegations that members of the 1980 campaign staff of Ronald Reagan held secret negotiations with the government of Iran. One member of the National Security Council during the Carter administration claimed that Reagan campaign staffers worked to ensure that Iran would not release the Americans held in Tehran until after the presidential election. close
