The National Civic League sponsored a symposium focusing on the issue of term limits. Supporters and opponents of term limitations debated key issues such as, if adopted, how term limitations would affect the work of Congress, state legislatures and local governments. The affects that term limitations would have on voter interest and a candidate’s leadership after being elected were also debated. Founded in 1894, the National Civic League is a non-profit, non-partisan association of individuals and organizations dedicated to fostering an understanding of, and participation in, the processes of democratic self-government. The League has not taken a position on the issue of term limitations. close
