Mr. Miller discussed the outlook for the nation’s economy and the federal budget next year. He ran the Office of Management and Budget during the last three years of the Reagan administration. Before that, he also served as the chairman of the Federal Trade Commission. He is now the chairman of the board of Citizens for a Sound Economy, a Washington-based economic advocacy group. Mr. Miller said the economy’s recent performance has been poor, and the short and midrange prospects for the economy were also poor, with only the long range prospects appearing to indicate slow economic growth. Mr. Miller went on to discuss the federal budget and his recent trip to the former Soviet Union. Mr. Miller responded to questions from members of the audience following his prepared remarks. close
