DePauw University sponsored a forum on media coverage of elections entitled, “Why Are Elections Over Before the Polls Open?” In the panel discussion entitled, “The Vanishing American Candidate,” participants discussed the candidate selection process and the reasons why qualified candidates often do not seek elective office.
