Former Congressman William Gray (D-PA) and president of the United Negro College Fund spoke at a memorial breakfast honoring civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr. Before Mr Gray’s remarks Benjamin Jennings the executive director of the United Planning Organization, the group who sponsored the event, presented an award to Nations Bank. J. Harold Chandler, the banks president accepted the award. Vincent Gray, Director of the D.C. Department of Hunan Services also presented the Mildred Claypool Community Service Award to Margaret Cooper of the Shaw Project Area Committee.
