President George H.W. Bush nominated his deputy White House chief of staff Andrew Card, Jr., to become the nation’s next Transportation Secretary. The Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee met to take up the cabinet level nomination. Andrew Card replaced Samuel Skinner, who left the Department of Transportation to replace John Sununu as President Bush’s Chief of Staff. close
