Fred Wertheimer, President of Common Cause, delivered a convocation address at the forum sponsored buy DePauw University entitled, “Why Are the Elections Over Before the Polls Open?", an examination of media coverage of elections. In his speech entitled, "Why Nothing Happens in Washington: The Effects of Unaccountable Government,” Mr. Wertheimer criticized the performance of government officials in Washington, DC, and called for increased surveillance of government activities by American citizens. close
