The Center for National Policy sponsored a forum entitled, “Democrats and the American Idea: Lessons from a Party’s History,” on the eve of the Democratic Party’s 200th anniversary. A panel discussion during the forum focused on the issues of race and diversity in American politics. Panelists discussed recent events concerning politics and race, including the recent violence in Los Angeles that occurred after the acquittal of four white policmen charged with beating a black suspect, as well as the history of the Democratic Party. Panelists responded to questions from the audience following their prepared remarks. Sen. Bradley discussed the current voting registration laws and the history of voting enfranchisement in the United States. close
