Following a performance by the flag-twirling Rangerettes and an introduction from Sen. Phil Gramm, President Bush spoke before a crowd of well-heeled Republicans at a fundraising dinner in Dallas, Texas. Speaking from a podium in front of a huge banner reading Texas Victory '92, the president lauded the good things that have occurred during the Bush administration that have contributed to the well-being of Americans but which have not been reported by “gloom and doom” television. He called for the passage of a number of the administration’s bills before Congress, including a capital gains tax cut and a balanced budget amendment. close
