Ms. Charen and Mr. McGurn discussed the rise of independent and undeclared presidential candidate Ross Perot in the 1992 presidential race, and the implications of Mr. Perot’s popularity on conservative politicians. Ms. Charen attributed Mr. Perot’s popularity to the policy failures of President Bush, but still endorsed President Bush in the fall election. The two journalists responded to questions from the audience following their prepared remarks. close
