Former Senator and 1992 Democratic presidential candidate Paul Tsongas stressed the hard choices facing America in an address to the 1992 Democratic National Convention in New York, NY. Sen. Tsongas, who won the New Hampshire Democratic primary in February 1992, emphasized the need for economic growth to solve the nation’s nagging problems, and criticized the Bush administration for failing to make the hard choices and pulling the nation deeper and deeper into debt. He also called for unity in the Democratic Party and the election of the Clinton-Gore presidential ticket. Sen. Tsongas was introduced by one of his delegates from Florida, and ascended the podium after entering the convention through the crowd while accompanied by his wife Nikki. close
