The committee heard testimony from members of the president’s Cabinet on the strategic arms reduction treaty between the U.S. and Russia signed during Russian President Yeltsin’s recent visit to the U.S. The recent agreement provides continuity for arms reduction between the U.S. and the Commonwealth of Independent States from the original START treaty signed in 1991 between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. close
