A panel discussion was held on the status of Iraq’s refugees during a special launch of Middle East Institute Viewpoints: “Iraq’s Refugee and IDP Crisis: Human Toll and Implications.” It is a collection of essays on the challenges facing Iraq, the international community, and the refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) themselves. Topics included the factors that triggered the refugee flow; the response of the U.S., Iraq, and the international community; the prospects for the refugees' return; and the impact on Iraq’s neighbors. close
