Representatives Linda and Loretta Sanchez (D-CA) talked about the book they co-authored, Dream in Color (Grand Central Publishing; September 2, 2008), in which they recount their paths to political office in. The daughters of Mexican immigrants and the first sisters to serve in Congress recall their childhood, political lives, and life lessons they wish to pass onto other women. They responded to questions from audience members following brief remarks.
Congresswoman Linda Sanchez has served as the Democratic representative from the 39th Congressional District of Calfornia since 2003. She is the first woman to Chair the Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law and the first Latina to serve on the Judiciary Committee.
Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is serving her sixth term as the Democratic representative for the 47th Congressional District of California. Representative Sanchez sits on the Oversight and Investigations, Readiness, and Military Personnel Subcommittees and serves as Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Border, Martitime and Global Counterterrorism. close
