Kate Clifford Larson talked about her book The Assassin’s Accomplice: Mary Surratt and the Plot to Kill Abraham Lincoln (Basic Books; June 2, 2008). In the book she tells the story of Mary Surratt, a little-known participant in the plot to kill Abraham Lincoln, and the first woman ever to be executed by the federal government. Ms. Larson described the role of the only female participant in the Lincoln conspiracy using interviews, confessions, and court testimony. She responded to questions from members of the audience.
