Speaking the day after reports showed that the nation’s economic output had shrunk by 0.3 percent, Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke talked about the future of mortgage finance and the housing market.

Chairman Ben Bernanke spoke via satellite from Washington, D.C., to the two-day symposium “Mortgage Meltdown, the Economy and Public Policy” held at the University of California, Berkeley. The event was a joint endeavor between the Berkeley Program on Housing and Urban Policy and the UCLA Richard S. Ziman Center for Real Estate. close
